Tjitske Storm presented its collection "The Art of Living Together" during Dutch Design Week 2022. Four colorful textile tapestries conceptually and visually translate the natural phenomenon of symbiosis. The tapestries were featured in the Kazerne Home of Design and Isola Design Gallery group exhibitions.
Tjitske found inspiration for his concept of symbiosis while traveling in Angola and South Africa, and captured examples of symbiotic relationships in all four designs. The interaction between different species is emphasized through the correlation of the geometric and the organic, the abstract and the detailed, the digital and the tactile, the East and the West, the North and the South, and the old and the new. Dissimilar worlds that collide, interact and reinforce each other.
nanimarquina collaborated in the production of the designs "Zebra & Ostrich", "Chameleon & Lichen" and "Sunbirds & Tropical Flowers 1.0". They were transformed into 3D reliefs and textile structures through the use of ancient tufting techniques.
The highest quality New Zealand wool was used to create long-lasting, soft results, and the yarns are colored with natural ingredients without chemicals.
